Overview

This Cookie Notice explains how Certified SysAdmin LLC (d/b/a RothIRAHub) uses cookies and similar technologies on rothirahub.com (the "Site"). It supplements our Privacy Policy — the Privacy Policy describes all the data we process; this notice focuses specifically on the browser-storage technologies that require disclosure under the EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act.

What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website to store preferences, session state, or analytics identifiers. "Similar technologies" covers localStorage, sessionStorage, pixel tags, and script-based fingerprinting. In this notice, references to "cookies" include those similar technologies.

Cookies are categorized by (a) source — first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a service we load); (b) duration — session (deleted when you close the tab) or persistent (stored until they expire or you delete them); and (c) purpose — strictly necessary, preferences, analytics, or advertising. We use only strictly-necessary cookies and, optionally and with your consent, analytics cookies.

Cookies We Use

Strictly necessary (always active, no consent required under GDPR/ePrivacy).

Name Provider Purpose Duration
rc_consent First-party Stores your cookie-consent choice so we don't show the banner repeatedly. 12 months
__vercel_* Vercel (hosting) Load balancing and request routing required to serve pages reliably. Session

Analytics (only set if you consent).

Name Provider Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics 4 Distinguishes unique visitors for aggregate usage measurement. 13 months
_ga_<ID> Google Analytics 4 Persists session state and measures engagement. 13 months

We configure GA4 with IP-anonymization, 14-month event-level retention, Google Signals disabled, and advertising features disabled. The banner below activates only if you consent — GA4 is not loaded otherwise.

Advertising cookies. We do not currently use advertising cookies. As of the Effective Date above, the Site has no ad networks, no retargeting pixels, no social-share pixels (share buttons, if present, are link-only), and no cross-context behavioral advertising. If advertising is introduced in the future, this notice will be updated before any advertising cookies are set, and any such cookies would require your explicit opt-in consent.

Legal Basis for Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies. Under GDPR we rely on the "legitimate interest" basis (Art. 6(1)(f) — operating a functional and secure website), and under the ePrivacy Directive these cookies fall within the "strictly necessary" exemption from consent.

Analytics cookies — region-aware approach. We apply the consent model that matches the law of the country your request originates from. The country is determined by the geolocation of your IP address at the network edge (no third-party API call, no IP storage):

  • EEA member states, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway: we rely on your explicit, prior, opt-in consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3)). Google Analytics is not loaded until you click "Accept all" or toggle analytics on in the preferences panel. You may withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawal takes effect immediately.
  • United States and rest of world (excluding the regions above): we rely on the opt-out model recognized under U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA, and the laws of Indiana, Kentucky, and Rhode Island that took effect January 1, 2026). Google Analytics is enabled by default with IP-anonymization, no Google Signals, no advertising features, and no cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time using the controls below; opt-out takes effect immediately.
  • Regardless of region — Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat that as a valid opt-out and do not load Google Analytics, even if you are in an opt-out region. You can override GPC for this site only by toggling analytics on in the preferences panel.

The same data minimization measures apply in both modes: Google Analytics 4 is configured with IP-anonymization, 14-month event-level retention, Google Signals disabled, and advertising features disabled. The region of your request is not stored or transmitted to any party other than the Vercel network edge that determined it.

Managing Your Preferences

On this Site. What you see on your first visit depends on your region:

  • Opt-in regions (EEA / UK / CH / IS / LI / NO): a banner appears with Accept all / Reject all / Customize. Analytics will not load until you choose. If you ignore the banner, analytics stays off.
  • Opt-out regions (U.S. and rest of world): a slim notice appears once disclosing that analytics is on. The notice has a Manage button (which opens the preferences panel where you can turn analytics off and save) and a Dismiss button. Analytics is loaded immediately on opt-out regions unless GPC is active.
  • Any region with GPC active: we treat GPC as a binding opt-out signal — analytics will not load and the full opt-in banner is shown so you can override for this site if you wish.

Your choice is stored in the rc_consent cookie for 12 months. You can change your preference any time:

In your browser. All major browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies. Instructions:

Opt out of Google Analytics generally. Google provides a browser add-on that opts you out of GA4 measurement across all websites that use it.

Do Not Track. We honor the browser Do Not Track (DNT) header — if it is set, we will not load non-essential analytics on your session regardless of the banner state.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We treat the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out request under the CCPA. If your browser sends a GPC header, we will not set analytics or advertising cookies (we do not currently set advertising cookies regardless).

Consequences of Declining Cookies

Declining all non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to use the Site. All articles, calculators, and tools function normally without analytics.

Changes to This Notice

We may update this notice when we deploy new technologies or when legal requirements change. The "Effective Date" at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be surfaced in the cookie banner.
